Kerber
started the year as the World No.10, but after reaching 3 Grand Slam finals and
5 finals at other tournaments, Kerber rose to the top of the rankings for the
first time in her career. The 3 Grand Slam finals were also her firsts in her
career, showing how impressive this year was for her.
The
highlight of her year was definitely reaching the finals of the Australian
Open, Wimbledon, US Open and the Olympics. Her run to the Australian Open included saving a match point in the
first round of the Australian Open against Misaki Doi on the way to a title
run.
